High costs are a significant barrier for customers and banks in developing nations and the Gates Foundation is providing resources for MFIs to create and implement innovative solutions to broaden banking services to enable people the ability to fund their children's education, increase productivity and income, and reduce vulnerability to illness and other unexpected events. MFIs worldwide should reevaluate their outputs and make necessary adjustments to delivering holistic microfinance services, which includes loans, money transfer services, and microinsurance, and savings.
