I am keen to see mPesa in action next week.
There is a very simple solution called mobi in the UAE. It uses ONLY the mobile number as a payment instrument. Need to analyse the difference in the processes of mPesa and of mobi.
Will publish the differences/advantages / disadvantages of both soon.

Although having cashless economy is the ultimate aim to resolve the liquidity shortage mentioned in the article. Incentivising services will bring in cash like paying school bills, paying airtime top-up, utility bills; should also be a good natural solution for the liquidity shortage, without banks or ATM intervening.

M-pesa in the wider picture has brought alot of joy and hope to most people more so the rural folks.Most of the financial issues that affects them i.e. hospital bills, school fees etc. can be settled within a short time by their urban based kith and kin in a very short notice.They have even moved a notch high by providing more advanced services in partnership with financial institutions.The M-pesa innovation as truely changed many lives.

They have introduce it in South Africa as well.I have not heard or see any big differences,maybe the public has not been better inform
or my lack of knowledge is telling me otherwise because I live in Johannesburg.From what I understand it is good for rural areas so I can’t paint everything with the same brush.
I think it is a great idea.Now technology is making a big difference in peoples lifes.Africans are on the right path by creating innovative ideas to improve other Africans lifes because they understand the hardship of their own people.
